Abstract

The random error propagation in the multiple known addition method using ion-selective clectrode is studied by Monte Carlo method. Results from 500 simulated measurements are used for estimating the relative standard deviation of the analytical results (RSD_(εx)) in each case under a variety of conditions. It is shown that the relation between RSD_(εx) and σ_E(the standard deviation of potential) and RSD_(εx) and RSD_V (the relative standard deviation of volume added) is linear. Also, RSD_(εx) is related to the quantity of standard solution added and the times of addition. Proper conditions to obtain results with higher precision are suggested.
