10% diclofenac liniment is applied once a day for 14 days. On the 3rd to 11th day of medication, it was moderately irritating to the intact and damaged skin of New Zealand rabbits. Continued medication showed mild irritation or the irritation subsided, which was similar to the skin irritation of commercially available 1.5% indomethacin liniment. 10% diclofenac liniment is non-sensitizing to guinea pig skin. When 10% diclofenac liniment is applied to the skin of rats once, the LD50 and its 95% confidence limit are 82.7 (61.7~110.9) mg/kg; the LD50 of diclofenac aqueous solution administered to rats by gavage is 104.6 (83.3~131.4) mg/kg . After covariance analysis, there was no difference in LD50 between the two administration routes.
