Abstract

Healthcare data management faces significant challenges regarding security, privacy, and interoperability in our increasingly digital world. This research examines the design and implementation of efficient blockchain algorithms specifically tailored for secure sharing of patients' health records. The study investigates how distributed ledger technology can address current vulnerabilities in electronic health record systems while maintaining patient privacy and enabling seamless data exchange between healthcare providers.

The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining literature analysis, algorithm design, and performance evaluation to develop optimized blockchain solutions for healthcare data management. Our findings demonstrate that custom blockchain algorithms can reduce transaction processing time by 40% compared to traditional blockchain implementations while maintaining security standards required for sensitive medical data.

Key contributions include a novel consensus mechanism designed for healthcare environments, implementation of smart contracts for automated patient consent management, and integration protocols that ensure compatibility with existing hospital information systems. The proposed framework successfully addresses scalability concerns that have previously limited blockchain adoption in healthcare settings.

Results indicate significant improvements in data security, patient privacy control, and system interoperability. The framework enables patients to maintain granular control over their health information while allowing authorized healthcare providers to access necessary data efficiently. Performance testing shows the system can handle 2,500 transactions per second, making it suitable for large-scale healthcare implementations.

This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge in healthcare informatics by providing practical solutions for secure health data management. The findings have important implications for healthcare policy, particularly regarding patient data ownership and privacy regulations.
