Abstract

This paper studies the effect of cyclic heat treatment or subsequent surface deformation strengthening on the fatigue strength of medium carbon alloy steel, and the effect of surface residual stress after rolling deformation. The distribution was measured, the fracture morphology characteristics and changes in organizational structure were observed using an electron microscope, and the mechanism of this composite strengthening was discussed. The results indicate that composite strengthening is an effective way to fully utilize the fatigue strength potential of materials; its strengthening mechanism is a combination of surface strengthening effect and grain refinement effect.
