Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is associated with multiple complications, one of which is diabetic osteopathy, characterized by impaired bone quality, decreased bone mineral density, and increased fracture risk. Emerging evidence highlights the role of oxidative stress in accelerating bone tissue damage under hyperglycemic conditions. Antioxidants, with their ability to neutralize reactive oxygen species, may represent a promising therapeutic strategy in mitigating diabetic osteopathy.

The present study investigates the ameliorating effects of selected antioxidants on experimentally induced diabetic osteopathy using 1000 samples. Diabetes was experimentally induced and validated by glycemic profiling, followed by antioxidant administration. Bone health was assessed through biochemical markers, imaging (DEXA, micro-CT), and histopathological evaluation. Oxidative stress biomarkers (MDA, SOD, CAT, GPx) were quantified to establish correlations between oxidative stress reduction and bone recovery.

The findings reveal significant improvements in glycemic control, oxidative stress indices, and bone mineral architecture following antioxidant treatment compared to diabetic controls. The study establishes a mechanistic basis for antioxidant-mediated protection against diabetic osteopathy, suggesting that these compounds may serve as adjunctive therapies for reducing bone-related complications in diabetes.
