Assessment of Knowledge Level, their willingness to buy and its Enrolment regarding Government Recognized Health Insurance Schemes among Unskilled and Semi-Skilled Workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar District in Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

This study examines the knowledge level, willingness to buy, and enrollment status regarding government-recognized health insurance schemes among 218 unskilled and semi-skilled workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh. The research highlights significant gaps in awareness, with many respondents lacking a clear understanding of scheme benefits and eligibility. Socio-economic and demographic factors such as education, income, and occupation were found to influence willingness and enrollment. The findings underscore the need for targeted awareness campaigns, simplified enrollment processes, and trust-building measures to enhance participation in these schemes, ultimately contributing to improved health security for vulnerable worker groups.
