Abstract

There are still divergent views on the mechanism of the sudden transition from granular transition to jet transition during steel wire melting arc welding. This paper uses high-speed photography to study the dynamic process of this sudden transition under the condition of variable current, and believes that the transition between the two transition forms is directly determined by the transition of the arc form. The arc jump phenomenon (the arc flashing area suddenly jumps from the surface of the molten droplet to the upper part of the neck) is an instantaneous phenomenon of the transformation of the two arc forms. The change in arc shape caused by this arc-jumping phenomenon can more fully explain the mechanism of transition from particle to jet under various conditions.
