Abstract

The Shooting Star by Shivya Nath is a travel memoir which does not merely document the travel narratives by a female traveller but also reflects on the looming environmental issues which have been threatening our planet in perilous ways, mainly due to the impetuous lifestyle of human beings. Climate change and high carbon emissions have been the issues of concern at both local and global levels. The travel and tourism industry has been in notoriety because of increased pollution, natural habitat loss, and greenhouse gas emissions from air travel, to name a few. Shivya Nath, in her memoir, advocates the need for conscious travel while advocating the need of travel for women, both environment and women being the subjects of exploitation. This paper exhibits a relationship between sustainability and women by employing the theories of ecofeminism.
