Abstract

This article uses Lalrammawia Ngente's Life—A Flower to illustrate the detrimental effects of masculinity on women. It examines women's patriarchal rule, the extent to which it affected women, and the continued relevance of patriarchy as a topic worth discussing. A patriarchal system places men at the top with the goal of controlling women. The protagonist of this tale embodies this idea. Despite realizing that his wife was not at blame for their childless situation, he let his frustrations and bitterness towards her out. This study examines the effects of patriarchy.
