Adonis / Uniqueness and Difference

Abstract

The poetic pioneer project of Adonis (Ali Ahmed Saeed) was formed at the historical moment in which his visions of modernity separated from the magazine project (Shi'r). At a time when the liberal Arab poets of this magazine were seeking to separate the bonds of the text connected to its traditional roots, Adonis actively sought to research  The Qur’anic text and then the Sufi text to be the basis for the poetic (formlessness), as he believes that the Arab and Islamic heritage, with its richness and diversity, contains many visions of existence that can be living roots for modernist poetry that revolts against the restrictions of formality, and from here the uniqueness and difference occurred in the Adonis project as a responsive project to the conditions of modernity as determined by the tendency to change, and at the same time it maintains the connection with the past, which is a condition for the continuity and extension of literary genres that do not turn against their origins, and seek to establish conscious similarity, without any excess or negligence.
